Ancient Chinese doorknob was date back to Chiu Dynasty. Its usage was well developed in Chin Dynasty and became popular in Han Dynasty. It now has become an architectural element. It is made out of copper or iron and has an embossment of a beast in the center. The mouth of the beast, which is used to knock and operate the door, holds a ring. It is also used as the ornament to repel the evil spirits by biting their fingers off if the evil spirits trying to operate the door.
